Job Title:                NDT Technician

Location:                Lloydminster/Cold Lake Region, Alberta

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Group 10 is seeking a motivated NDT Technician (UT/MT/PT) to join our operations in Lloydminster, Alberta with opportunities to support projects across Alberta. This role offers an excellent foundation for building a career in inspection, including hands-on experience and a clear pathway to achieving advanced NDT and inspection certifications such as API and National Board.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist ABSA ISI and TSASK LPEI certified inspectors with regulatory inspections. 

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate UT, MT, and PT equipment to ensure accurate and reliable inspection results in field conditions. 

  • Perform surface and volumetric NDT inspections using ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and penetrant testing methods in accordance with approved procedures and applicable codes/standards (e.g., ASME, CSA, API). 

  • Inspect welds, piping, pressure equipment, and pipelines for discontinuities and defects. 

  • Interpret and evaluate inspection results against applicable acceptance criteria and clearly communicate findings. 

  • Accurately complete and submit field reports, ensuring all documentation is thorough, organized, and submitted in a timely manner. 

  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness in dynamic field environments, adhering to all company and client safety policies and procedures. 

  • Collaborate effectively with clients, operations teams, and other technicians to support efficient project execution.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Materials or Welding engineering is considered a strong asset. 

  • Ultrasonic Testing UT 1 CGSB Certification is considered a strong asset. 

  • Magnetic Particle Testing MT 2 CGSB Certification is considered a strong asset. 

  • Liquid Penetrant Testing PT 2 CGSB Certification is considered a strong asset. 

  • Demonstrated experience performing UT, MT, and PT inspections in field environments (oil & gas, pipeline, or industrial settings preferred).  

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract and ability to travel to various job sites as required. 

  • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA) and ability to interpret acceptance criteria.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, high-demand environments with minimal supervision. 

  • Strong attention to detail with solid problem-solving and decision-making skills. 

  • Physically fit and capable of working in various environmental conditions (heights, confined spaces, outdoor weather conditions). 

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to complete clear and accurate field reports. 

  • Willingness and availability to support call-out work, including evenings, weekends, and short-notice assignments. 

  • Resides locally to Lloydminster, Bonnyville or surrounding areas.
