Damon completed his Ph.D. in Environmental Microbiology from the University of Calgary, during which he studied the genetic response of microbes following exposure to sublethal doses of biocides. His studies focused on industry-relevant monitoring techniques including ATP and quantitative PCR targeting unique genetic markers in a defined microbiologically influenced corrosion community.  He is a registered member of Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB), the governing body of biologists in Alberta. Damon is proficient in various molecular biology techniques including primer design and DNA sequencing with a focus on their application in the Oil and Gas industry.
